Cad + Drawings

to scale drawing prints

Created full-scale models in fusion. Placed the cello and bow model to test fit. Printed out fusion models to test scale, and used renders to explore differences between unstained and stained ash wood.

Prep / First cuts

Purchased ash wood. Cut out and glued fusion drawing on to wood to act as a template. Used a bandsaw to make the first major cut, and used a rub joint to get the first section of the plank together. And took a few breaks.

Joining + sanding

Used a Domino joiner, then held sturdy with clamps and tape to account for awkward angles. Sanded to remove paper and prep for stain. lastly routed pieces using a hand and table router.

Assembly + staining

Used tape to test out the positions of the stand. After measuring the angles of the stand, made a two-angle cut on the chop saw for the stand's supports. Using a jig, created angled cuts for screws to be placed with a modified drill bit. lastly sanded the stand one last time before staining.
